Man dies after being scratched by his own cat (Reproduction)
A 55-year-old Russian man, Dmitry Ukhin, tragically died after being scratched by his pet cat, Styopka, on November 22 in the Leningrad region.
The cat, known for freely roaming the neighborhood, was found by Ukhin and brought back home. However, for unknown reasons, Styopka severely scratched Ukhin’s leg, rupturing a vein or artery and causing fatal bleeding.
Ukhim, who had diabetes and blood clotting issues, called a neighbor for help, reporting the intense bleeding. Despite the neighbor’s attempt to help and the arrival of emergency services, Ukhin did not survive and passed away before receiving medical attention.
The police are investigating the incident and have ruled out the possibility of a crime. Ukhin’s wife described Styopka as an innocent cat, making the severity of the injury something rare and unexpected for a domestic animal, even though Styopka was a large cat.
